Summary: You are Shigure’s younger sister! Loud, exuberant, and always happy most people instantly like you. You love your older brother but sometimes think that he goes a bit over board with his ‘pervertedness’. When you are forced to move in with your brother after an incident at your old boarding school you’ll have to face some things that you would rather not have remembered…Reader/Kyo Sohma
“Did you hear what happened to that (Last Name) girl?”
“No. What happened?”
“Something attacked her so now she has to be sent away from here.”
“What attacked her?”
“No one knows!”
“Oh my! Could the attacker still be in the building?!”
“No. (Last Name) probably deserved it.”
You tried to block those voices out as you sat in front of the principal’s office but they just seemed to drill their way into your mind. You couldn’t help it that this had all happened. It wasn’t your fault. Your hands flew up to your face and played with the cotton bandages covering the right side of your face. He had gotten you. He had gotten you good. You could feel the pulsing as the blood circulated through your wounds and slowly you brought your hands away so see that they were lightly coated in blood.
“Please, Miss (Last Name), come in.” The principal said, opening her door and allowing you to enter. You noticed that the counselor was here also and so was your older brother, Shigure. You smiled at him as you sat down and he beamed at you even though his eyes held anything but happiness. He looked concerned for you. Big time.
“We here at Japan Prep feel that things should not be out of place.” The principal said as she sat down in front of you. You looked at her and smiled slightly. This boarding school was in Japan and about a forty-minute drive from Kaibara but you still rarely saw your older brother at all. You glanced at him and saw that he was raptly listening to the teacher and seemed serious, for once. You turned back to look at her. Miss Arrow ran this boarding school with an iron fist and she believed that everything should be referred to as the States would refer to it. You liked her as much as you liked being solemn for no apparent reason; meaning you didn’t like her very much. “We try to keep everything here…orderly.”
“And I have disrupted this order.” You said, your (color) eyes hardening ever so slightly. You had been going to this school for the past two years. You were just about to graduate and go out into the real world in a few months but now you had to go to a new school in order to reach that goal. How could they just expel you for this when the ‘incident’ wasn’t even your fault? You stared at her with the impassive look that you had ever used before. Usually you were happy and always made everyone laugh. You being this serious and cold were something that seemed to startle the principal. Apparently she had thought you would take this very well.
“Well, Miss (Last Name), you must understand the predicament that we are facing.” Miss Arrow continued, looking at Mrs. Bright for some suggestions on how to handle this situation better. You glanced at the counselor to see that she looked just as confused on how to handle this situation as the principle was.
“(Name)-san, you must understand our point of views.” Mrs. Bright said, taking over the conversation. “With such a high reputation such as ours something such as this would be looked down upon. We can’t just let this go by.”
They seemed not to notice that you were the one with half of your face bandaged or that you were the one who had been attacked. You knew why they were expelling you instead of Joshua Smith. It was because you didn’t hold as much money as his family did. You had made all of the money to get into this school yourself and had been very proud when you had finally been accepted. Hell, Akito even let you go to this school even though you knew about the curse. He had finally come to accept you and even though he acted cold and distant towards you, you could still tell that he trusted you very much. You were proud of that to say the least.
“Of course.” You said, nodding your head at them and looking into your lap to hide the tears of bitterness that you knew were rising inside of you. Why you? You had worked so hard to get to where you were today and then Joshua came and took it all away. You didn’t even know why he had done it really. One minute you were walking down the hallway and the next Joshua had thrown you against the wall and started to yell at you. You didn’t even remember what he had done to hurt your face so badly. All you could remember was the pain had been too much to bear and you had screamed with all of your might. The teachers had come to late to see if it was really Joshua even though you had told them it was. They, however, knew that Joshua came from such a good family that it couldn’t have possibly had been him so no one had said anything about him being the one who had done this all to you.
“(Name),” Shigure said, rising from his seat. “You can come back to my home and live with me until we can get this all figured out.”
You looked up at your older brother and nodded, getting up to follow him out of the office. “Miss (Last Name),” The principal said, rising from her seat and offering to shake your hand. “I hope you only remember the finer times here at this boarding school.”
“What finer times?” You asked before walking out of the office without even giving them a second glance. Why would you? They had told you that you were the one being punished when you had CERTAINLY not done these wounds to yourself. You could never forgive either of them for this but then again, they didn’t really need your forgiveness to keep moving on with their lives. You followed your brother outside of the building to see that Hatori was leaning against a car and seemed to be waiting for Shigure. He rose up straighter when he saw both of you and raised an eyebrow at you.
“What happened?” He asked, lavender eyes staring at you intently but obviously he was talking to Shigure. You looked over at Shigure to try and gauge his reaction but he only smiled happily at Hatori and then swept his hands about dramatically.
“Poor, poor (Name)-kun!” Came a dramatic voice from behind you and instantly you felt a hand being placed on your shoulder. You mushroomed sighed, instantly knowing whom it was who had spoken.
“Hello Ayame-san.” You said, turning ever so slightly so you could see that his golden eyes were focused on your own. You smiled at him slightly and then turned back to Hatori.
“I was expelled.” You said, your hand coming up to finger the cloth that was slowly being died a light shade of pink because of the blood that was being soaked up by it. Hatori raised an eyebrow at that and looked confused for a moment before he quickly came over that.
“Why?” He asked, looking impassive again. You just shrugged and sighed, your shoulders moving down towards the ground as the realization finally hit you with full force. You still could barely believe that after all that you had gone through that you wouldn’t be waking up tomorrow to go to classes here. Not anymore. You had gone to this school for two years and now everything came crashing down.
“Well, let’s not waste anymore time on this place!” Ayame said, ushering you to the back door so you could get into Hatori’s car. “You must be feeling awful (Name)-kun!”
“I’m feeling slightly horrible, yes.” You answered as you got into the back seat. You watched as Hatori slid into the front seat and buckled up and as Ayame slid in next to you. Shigure took the seat next to Hatori in the front and glanced at you from the mirror.
“Don’t worry onee-chan!” He said well naturedly as he grinned at you. “You can come live with me! We’re only about a seven year difference in ages and really that’s no difference at all!”
You smiled slightly at your older brother and nodded. “Yes.” You said, looking down at your hands that were clasped securely in your lap. “Thank you nii-san.”
“No problem! It’s no problem for me if it involves my little sister!” Shigure said, waving his hands around dramatically. You watched with semi-interest as Ayame joined in on the drama.
“Yes! Shii-san you really are a great person! I am delighted to know you!” Ayame said loudly and you glanced in the rear view mirror to see Hatori roll his eyes slightly at the two of them. “You haven’t been cheating on me though, have you?!”
You nearly chocked on air when Ayame said that and that seemed to cause the other two boys to laugh at you. You glanced into the mirror to see a look from Hatori that plainly explained they were both joking and this was some sort of twisted inside joke between the two of them. You smiled slightly at them and then glanced at Shigure.
“Yes. I heard you wanted to cheat on him with her.” You said, joining in on the fun and all ready forgetting that you had been upset just a few moments ago. You watched with (color) eyes that were slowly filling up with happiness again. You had always gotten along very well with your brother and his friends. Even though you were about eight to seven years younger than them they had always treated you like you were their age. It was always fun to hang out with them really. Hatori was the silent one that always got everyone out of trouble. Shigure was the loud one along with Ayame and you were the one who always kept Shigure in line if he ever began to do something that didn’t seem right.
“I should have known!” Ayame yelled, flopping a hand over is forehead. You just giggled at the two of them and poked Ayame in the side, causing him to go ‘oof’ and turn to look at you. “Yes my dear (Nickname)-kun?”
“You act weird.” You stated bluntly causing Shigure to chuckle at you and Hatori to have a ghost of a grin. Ayame looked horrified (he was acting) as he grabbed your shoulders and shook you lightly.
“I’m weird! Oh but dear (Nickname)-kun! You must know that I love you with all of my heart! I do!” Ayame yelled, causing you to sweatdrop at him. You patted him on the shoulder and then disentangled yourself from him and smiled wide.
“That’s write Aya-san!” You said, giggling. “You HAVE to love me! No one CAN’T love me!”
“We’re here.” Hatori said, stopping the car after he had drove down a long road. You glanced outside the car window to see that you were at a semi-large house that was surrounded by the forest on all sides. Shigure hopped out of the car and began to gab with Hatori and Ayame while you just stared at the house. Finally he turned away after waving goodbye and the two other men drove off.
“This is it (Name)!” Shigure said, waving his arms around to mean that this was the house you would be staying at. You just sighed and nodded. Shigure quickly helped you by opening the door since you were now carrying your two suitcases and you both entered the house. “The others who are around your age should be back in about an hour or so. They’re still probably at school though. You’ll start at school tomorrow probably.”
“Thanks.” You said and followed him upstairs to where he had led you to an empty room. The room had a nice bed with a purple bedspread, you recognized it from the last time you lived with your brother and smiled. It was your old room. Your walls were still a soft shade of lilac and it had gold detailing on the bottom towards the hardwood floor. You set your suitcases down and flopped down onto your bed, smiling idiotically at Shigure. “Thanks nii-san!!!”
“No problem!” Shigure said, shutting the door and leaving you to unpack. You happily unpacked everything and put it away before taking out your favorite picture of yourself and Shigure. You were about seven while he was around the age of fifteen (you’re only about eight years younger than him). He was smiling slightly while you were all out beaming. You remembered that you had been SOOO happy to see him again after about four years apart. Your parents had never really let you go anywhere near Shigure because they thought since you were ‘normal’ that you should stay away from your cursed brother. You knew that they had never told Shigure that which was probably why he held nothing against your parents.
“STUPID RAT!!!” Yelled a voice from downstairs, startling you out of your half dream like state. You jumped slightly and turned, opening the door slowly so it wouldn’t make any noise before running downstairs and peeking into the room that the noise had come from. There was Shigure who you of course recognized, a boy with orange hair and red eyes, a boy with silverish hair and purple eyes, a girl with brown hair and brown eyes, a boy with blond hair and brown eyes, and another boy with black hair at the roots and white hair on the ends and gray eyes.
“Uh, Kyo-kun, Sohma-kun didn’t do anything this time.” Said the girl, speaking to the orange haired boy who you assumed to be Kyo. (A/N: Do you know what happens when you assume? You make an ass out of me AND of you!!! I don’t own that phrase either. My friend Kimmy says it a lot…) You glanced over to see that Kyo was fuming silently.
“Yes he did! He was born!” Kyo yelled and you entered the room, noting that no one even noticed that you were there.
“Now!” Shigure yelled, causing everyone to turn to him. He clapped his hands together excitedly and then smiled wide at everyone. “I have some news!”
“You’re going to give up being a pervert?” Kyo asked dryly and you noticed that some of the people in the room laughed at this. You just smiled slightly and sat down behind everyone with your arms placed on the table and your head in your hands so that you were watching everything like you were watching a cinema.
“No.” Shigure said and began to chibi cry but then got over it quite quickly when he realized that he was suppose to be saying. “My sister is moving in with us!!”
“…” There was silence while everyone looked at Shigure with a wide-eyed and open mouth expression. You glanced around to see that Kyo was scowling, Shigure was chibi-smiling, the girl looked positively ecstatic, and the three other boys just looked stunned.
“You have a sister?” Asked the purple-eyed boy. You watched all of this happen with a wide smile on your face. Apparently no one had ever been told that you were the younger sister of Shigure. Mostly because you had never met the other members of the cursed Zodiac except for Hatori and Ayame (Shigure doesn’t count. He’s your older brother). You watched as this bit of news registered in their minds before everything began to happen.
“WHAT?!!!!” Yelled out Kyo in a spit of rage. You just watched with a slightly confused expression as everything went from there. “WHY IS ANOTHER GIRL GOING TO BE LIVING WITH US?!!!”
“Because she’s my little sister and she needs a place to stay.” Shigure answered like it was the most obvious thing in the whole world. You just blinked slightly and continued to watch the scene, finding it slightly interesting that no one had noticed you yet.
“Shigure, does she even know about the curse?” The purple-eyed boy asked and you watched with a raised eyebrow. So, they must be cursed in order to know about it since you had only heard about a certain Tohru Honda being allowed to know about it. You glanced at the girl and realized ‘Hey! That’s Tohru Honda!’ (A/N: Bit slow, aren’t we? *gets smacked in the head with a folding chair* @_@)
“Yes. She’s my younger sister! Of course she does, Yuki!” Shigure said to the now dubbed Yuki. You just watched this like it was the most interesting thing in the world and magically a tub of popcorn appeared and you began munching on it silently.
“So, where is she?” Said the gray-eyed boy. You looked at him and knew that, judging by his ‘coloring’, he must be the cow from the Zodiac legend.
“Well, she’s-,” Shigure began and then placed a finger to his lips in deep thought. “I forgot where I left her…”
Everyone facefaulted except for yourself and Shigure. When everyone came back up they were grumbling about stupid perverts who don’t think. Well, everyone was except Tohru; she seemed to be too nice to do something like that.
“You left me upstairs.” You told him, munching on another kernel of popcorn. Shigure smiled at you and nodded.
“Thank you (Name)! Yes, she was-Oh, hi (Name)!!” Shigure said, finally realizing that you were there. Everyone turned to look at you and you smiled widely as your tub of popcorn ‘magically’ disappeared from your hands.
“Oh! Hello! I’m Honda Tohru!” Said the girl, getting up and shaking your hand profusely. You smiled at her and shook her hand back.
“I’m (Last Name) (Name).” You answered before standing up and brushing yourself off. “So, I’m going to school with them now…right?”
“Right!” Shigure said happily while showing you the thumbs up sign. “You’re smarter than I would have guessed (Nickname)-kun!”
“Hey!” You yelled, glaring slightly at your older brother. “What does that mean nii-san?!”
“Nothing. Nothing.” Shigure said, waving it off with his hands while just laughing to himself. You continued to glare at him before the boy with red eyes began glaring at you and you had to turn to him and blink several times.
“What?” You asked, causing everyone to sweatdrop slightly at you. You would think that since you had listened to their whole conversation that you would know why he was glaring at you but you had forgotten soon after he had said it.
“Why do you have to move here?!” He yelled at you, glaring becoming slightly darker. You glared just as hard at him causing him to be taken by surprise. Good, apparently they had thought you would be like Shigure and not be able to be angry. You took him by surprise. That’s always a good sign. Means their human.
“Because I got expelled from my old school because I got attacked.” You told him and then reached up and fingered the bandages that were still wrapped around your right side of your face, making it so you can’t see anything out of your right eye because it was also bandaged up tightly.
“But, if you got attacked why were you expelled?” Asked the blond haired little boy, looking confused while he watched you with wide brown eyes. You glanced at him and shrugged lightly.
“Because they thought that I had done this,” Here you gestured to your face. “Myself.”
“Oh.” Said the little boy, looking slightly forlorn that you had been injured. You just smiled at him, completely forgetting that you had been glaring at Kyo. Actually, now you were completely IGNORING Kyo and he didn’t seem to like that.
“Hey! Are you ignoring me now?!” Kyo yelled at you while he jumped up. You just glared at him for a second before smiling at him and nodding.
“Yeap! Boy, aren’t you a smart one?!” You said, laughing slightly before turning to Yuki who seemed to want to introduce himself now.
“I’m Sohma Yuki. If you’re Shigure’s younger sister why do you have a different last name then him?” Yuki asked, looking slightly confused even though to you he didn’t seem to show any emotions.
“Because I said I wanted my mother’s maiden name.” You replied, smiling at him.
“I’m Sohma Hatsuharu.” Said the one that you had all ready figured out to be the cow. “But you may just call me Haru.”
“Nice to meet you Haru-kun!” You said, smiling at him too.
“Momiji! I’m Momiji!” Said the blond haired boy and he jumped up. “Does this mean that since she knows about us that I can hug her?! Can I?!”
“Now, now Momiji. I don’t think you should just go around hugging people even if that person is my little sister.” Shigure said, laughing lightly. Momiji looked like he wasn’t listening anymore as he practically glomped you, causing you to fall backwards from the force and a loud resounding ‘poof’ was heard and smoke clouded your vision for a moment before you saw a rabbit sitting on your stomach and somehow smiling a little rabbit smile.
“Hello.” You said, picking him up gently. “That’s cute, Momiji-kun. You’re the rabbit.”
Momiji nodded and then hopped back over to where he had been sitting. You quickly got up along with Tohru, both of you knowing he would transform back soon, and you bid your goodbyes before leaving. You walked upstairs with Tohru and noted that you had the room next to hers on the right side (A/N: If Tohru came out of her room you would be on the right side. If you’re heading for Tohru’s room you’re on the left).
“Bye.” You said before entering your room and closing the door. You flopped down onto your bed, reaching up and fingering the bandages again. This was all you had left of your memories back at your old boarding school. You quickly changed into your pajamas before pulling your covers back and getting in. You curled up into a small ball as you sighed lightly. This was your new life. You were never going back to your old school anymore. You all ready had your uniform you would wear tomorrow and it was now hanging up in your closet. Today was the big day. Sink or swim, you were going to have to live with it for the rest of your high school days…

Karena: I was initially going to make this a one-shot over 10,000 words or something but then I decided against it. I might actually write this up to how long “When Darkness Falls” but then again, has any of you SEEN how long that fic is?!
Kyo: (is still grumbling about how stupid Karena is for starting a new fic)
Haru: (by now has grown bored and is reading a book in the background)
Valerie: (is trying to get Haru’s attention)
Karena: (sweatdrops) Anyway, hope you all liked this first chapter. With this story my goal is to make every chapter at least over 2000 words. I’m aiming for about 4000 if I can manage it.
Valerie: (turns away from Haru and smiles at the readers) Please review!

“Did you hear what happened to that (Last Name) girl?”
“No. What happened?”

[~*~]
