Chapter 4
Disclaimer: I don’t own beyblade or any Amanda Marshall lyrics that may and will appear in this chapter.
Oh and I have decided what I’m going to do about the pairing so, read the author note at the end of the chapter (after READING the chapter…I have a feeling there are some people who will scroll down and check. Lol.). ^_^ A/N: Thank you all for your wonderful reviews for Chapter 3
Now, here’s chapter 4 for all of you, thank you for waiting so patiently!
*&*&*&*&*&*
“…You can't change a stubborn mind…You can't see the world if your eyes are blind…What does it matter anyway…In our darkest hour we're all just shades of grey…” You sang ‘Shades of Grey’ quietly to your mp3 player as you sat in your team’s room staring down at your beyblade.
You knew that if you were still on the BBA Revolution team, Chief would be rapidly checking and rechecking everyone’s beyblades to make sure they were in perfect condition. You smiled slightly at the memory and then shook it from your mind. Your old life was behind you now. As far as you were concerned (Your full name) never existed.
No it isn’t. My life isn’t behind me, just yet. You realized abruptly, I still have to face my former teammates out there…how does Kai do it? That’s easy to answer. He’s strong.
I can do it. I’ll be strong. I won’t give in to my weaker emotions and I most certainly won’t go crying to my former friends. You resolute mentally in a demanding tone, which left no room for failure.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you distinctively heard some one calling your name, you looked up and took off your head phones. Tala. Oh bliss and joy.
“If you don’t mind, we’d like to get out there and beyblade sometime today.” Tala held the door open as you got up and walked towards it and passed him, not saying a word.
That was his first hint that something was wrong with you. Normally you would have made a witty (or not so witty in his opinion) comeback and stomped off. But you remained calm.
“I’ll have to tell Hiwatari his friend is broken.” Tala mused under his breath as he followed you at a distance towards the stadium entrance.
You reached the team bench, as did Tala – a minute after you. “So who’s battling when?” You questioned Kai; you didn’t want to take your chances talking to Bryan. He still seemed to be plotting your death, and in a mega painful way at that.
“You’re up first battling who knows. Tala’s up second and I’ll take the tie breaker, if there is one. Don’t screw up.” Kai smirked at you.
“Gee that’s comforting.” You muttered as you sat down beside Tala on the end of the bench.
“Hey look, the Blitzkrieg Boys have a new member!” Daichi’s high pitched voice floated across the stadium as he jumped up and down pointing you out to the Chief.
“What?” You heard Kenny’s reply, “But I haven’t got any data on him whatsoever – I hope they don’t send him up.” Him? I’m surprised at you Kenny. Honestly, I thought I knew you better than that! You thought in indignation. You guessed your expression must have given you away because you noticed Tala smirking in your direction.

“What?” You snapped at him.
“Nothing. I’m wondering how you became friends with such dolts.” Tala replied smirking even more.
You shrugged brushing it off, if he was trying to get you to defend your former teammates (so he could bug you about it, no doubt) it wasn’t going to work. “I wonder the same thing sometimes…”
“Welcome to the next rounds of the tournament!” Jazzman yelled into his microphone. “Today we have BBA REVOLUTION FACING THE BLITZKRIEG BOYS!” A boy scurried up to where Jazzman was standing and handed him a piece of paper.
“LADIES AND GENTELMEN! I’VE JUST RECEIVED WORD THAT THE BLITZKRIEG BOYS HAVE A NEW MEMBER AND IT HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE BBA!” So your disguise did work, even Mr. thingyenson couldn’t see through it. Fools…
“GIVE IT UP FOR HIIRO TAKANAKI OF THE BLITZKRIEG BOYS!”
The stadium goes wild as you step up to the stadium and sweep down into an arrogant bow at the waist towards the crowd. You come back up gracefully only to be interrupted by a brown haired boy walking up to the stadium nervously. Shock runs through your veins as you try to keep your face in a smirk formation.
Kenny…Why me? You thought as you put your beyblade onto your launcher and pushed a rip cord through it. Why couldn’t I have faced Daichi or Tyson? Speaking of which, where was Tyson? You then noticed he wasn’t on the bench, how odd…He’s probably stuffing his face at some buffet, this thought brought a smirk to your face, but it never reached your eyes.
“3.” Jazzman started the countdown, “2…1.”
“LET IT RIP!” You and Kenny shouted in unison. Both beyblades were launched at a surprisingly slow speed into the stadium, but that wasn’t as weird as what happened next.
“(Your first name)?” Astonishment was evident in Kenny’s voice. d**n! Why could he of all people be the one to notice your disguise? This was beginning to get annoying; this ploy that fate had so kindly sent hurling towards you at two hundred miles an hour without warning.
You snorted, “Hn. Who? My name is Hiiro Takanaki.”
Kenny’s eyebrows furrowed as he tried to comprehend what you had just said. His beyblade bounced (literally) around the dish as you spun in one place and dodged its attack every so often. You knew his strategy and it wasn’t going to work on your beyblade, it had been built for endurance. Well, you knew that the BBA Revolution team would sooner or later find out your true identity – might as well knock ‘hopper’ out of the stadium with style – using a bit-beast or more specifically Nakia.
“NAKIA!” You call and then ponder which of your attacks to use. Finally you come to a conclusion (5.2 seconds later), an ice attack seemed rather appropriate for the situation at hand. “WATER BLIZZARD!”
Nakia threw her head back and then forward again, out of her mouth came a stream of water with the pressure of a thousand fire hoses. It hit Kenny’s beyblade and turned to ice stopping it immediately.
“(Your first name) why did you join the Blitzkrieg Boys of all teams?” Kenny’s voice rang out as he pleaded for an explanation from the likes of Hiiro Takanaki.
“My name isn’t (your first name), it’s Hiiro – don’t make me correct you again. Mr. thingyenson refused my reassignment to another team, so I went to Boris – not as if it’s any of your business.”
“(Your first name)?” You heard Daichi and Hilary’s voices in unison as you noticed Tyson running down the aisle of the seats and then jumping over a wall onto the stadium floor.
“What? Where’s (Your first name)?” Tyson yelled from across the stadium as he ran up to join his teammates. “I’m sorry I ran off earlier Chief!” He panted an apology. “Hey, who’s the new dude from the Blitzkrieg Boys?” Obviously he had missed the rather loud memo.
“The person who just beat him.” You sneered as you picked up your beyblade and walked calmly back to the team bench, ignoring Daichi’s protests (and Tyson’s once he figured it out). You weren’t (Your full name) anymore, you were Hiiro – I wonder how long it’ll take them to grasp that concept?
You walked into your team room and sat down on the bench closest to the door. Well, beating Kenny had been easy enough, but then again that was to be expected – it was Kenny. You thought about your battle as you contemplated on how Kai was doing against Daichi. You figured the Blitzkrieg Boys would advance no problem; I mean after all, the only good blader BBA Revolution had left was Tyson Granger.
Unfortunately, you were about to find out, just how wrong you were – about everything.
“Hiiro.” A stone voice commanded. Tala Valkov, oh yay. Note the serious sarcasm and alliteration.
“Yeah?” You responded, vaguely coming back to reality for a moment.
“The BBA Revolution team wants a word with you.”
At hearing this you groaned, “All of them?”
“All of them, including Kenny.” Kai confirmed as he walked into the room. Wait, how did he know about that? You groaned again as you ran your hand through your hair in exasperation.
You shot Kai a look, and he shook his head, “Just get it over with.”
“Alright, fine.” You gave in and walked out the door as Tala followed.
“Why are you coming?” You threw him a weirded out look.
“Do you know where they are?”
“No.”
“Exactly.” He sneered as he wandered up beside you as you both rounded the corner into another hallway.
You followed Tala through the fifth door on your left and entered to see the BBA Revolution team (complete with Tyson).
You decided to take on an act of over confidence otherwise known as egotism (let’s see if I can pull a ‘Tala’, you smirked at the thought).
You sauntered over to your former friends and looked them up and down, and then raised your eyebrows. “This is a waste of my time. What do you want? I could be training – not that I’d need it to beat you again.” You smirked at Kenny as Tyson sent a glare your way – although it may very well have been pointed at Tala.
“What the heck happened to you, (Your first name)?”
“Who?” You stated loud and clear to get your point across.
“Hiiro, he asked what happened? Back when you were on BBA Revolution, you were…different to say the least.” Hilary stepped in before you and Tyson could get into another fight.
“Hn.” Tala sneered towards her. “What do you think happened? She grew up – your team was too immature to even allow such a thing.”
“You can’t be seriously in league with those guys, can you? I mean, come on, (Your first name), how can you choose them over us?” Daichi’s two cents went into the basket.
“Easily.” You turned and walked out calmly as your escort, ahem, I mean, Tala followed. “What was that all about? You couldn’t let me handle it?” You blurted it out, once you were out of hearing distance.
“Oh yeah, you were doing a great job at handling it. Look, you’re on the team now, and I’m not about to let you embarrass us.” Tala spoke harshly, although you knew he meant otherwise. You had figured out by now, it was his style. He wasn’t about to let himself seem weak, but he couldn’t very well not care about a situation where his teammate’s pride was at stake (and his along with it).
All the same, it would be fun to bug him about it, “Aw thanks, it’s so nice to know that someone other than Kai cares…” You grinned as you flounced off, leaving Tala shaking his head at your antics.
You were rather weird, one minute all solemn and snappy and the next bouncy and happy…I’m not going to try and understand that female, was his sole resolution made at that particular minute.
You walked down hallways, looking for your team room. Obviously someone had the bright idea of painting everything light blue and laying every hallway out the same. It was a giant labyrinth for heavens sake! Argh! You stalked over to a bench and sat down. If you were going to be lost, you could at least be comfortable until someone found you…
“Hey dude, are you lost?” You heard a cheerful voice. You froze – it couldn’t be. You looked up to see a blond haired boy. Oh yes it could; hi Max.
“No Max, I’m sitting here for absolutely no reason at all…” You trailed off sarcastically as you realized your mistake. You had used his name and he shouldn’t know you yet…shoot! Stupid (Your first name)! You resisted the urge to bang your head against a wall.
“(Your first name)?” Max’s face lit up with glee as he ran toward you.
You stood up as he stopped, “My name’s Hiiro, not (Your first name). Call me by it or don’t expect me to respond.
“What happened? Your hair is so blond that it’s white and why are your eyes red? Why weren’t you with BBA Revolution during the last match? Did I miss something?” Max ranted for awhile and then calmed down and shut up. That was when you started to speak. After silence had reigned for about five seconds.
“Apparently you did Max.” You took a deep breath, besides Kai, Max had always been your closest friend. “I’m no longer on BBA Revolution; in short I quit. Uh-uh,” You shook your head, “Let me finish.” You held up a hand when Max opened his mouth to protest and then closed it and nodded. “I quit for a few reasons. A) I don’t belong to a BBA Revolution team – I belong to the Bladebreakers. They aren’t the Bladebreakers. B) I need to improve and I can’t do that on a team that doesn’t challenge me. So don’t get upset with me a change was necessary. Unfortunately Mr. thingyenson didn’t see it that way, so I had use my last resort.” “And that was?” Max asked hurriedly, obviously he wanted the full story.
You smiled (not smirked but smiled) for the first time in days, “Can you point me in the direction of the Blitzkrieg Boys team room?”
“You’re not serious.” Max’s eyes were as large as saucers as he looked at you critically. “How could you, Hiiro?”
“How could she not?” A second voice was heard by all as Ray stepped into the circle with Mariah in toe. “It makes enough sense and it would be the logical thing to do – maybe not the right thing but…” Ray trailed off and started again, “Mr. thingyenson is in charge of most of the teams in this tournament, except the Blitzkrieg Boys.”
“That still doesn’t make it right! That’s betraying Bladebreakers whether they’ve had a name change or not!” Max nearly shouted. Anger burned in his eyes, as yours clouded over with emotionless stone (a/n: there’s an oxymoron for you – clouded over with emotionless stone).
“So what you’re saying to me is that I’ve betrayed the Bladebreakers simply because I don’t like the name?” You looked at him gravely. “The same thing could be said about you then, couldn’t it? Aren’t you on the PPB AllStarz?”
“That’s different! I just wanted to battle in the tournament! You had the opportunity to do that on BBA Revolution!” Max shot back, you had made him mad and you could tell he was trying to keep his cool. Trying was the key word there.
You sighed, “Either way, your postulated axiom is false. I don’t want to be on bad terms with you Max, but you might as well know that I’m never going back to BBA Revolution. They aren’t the Bladebreakers, end of discussion.”
You turned to Ray who was standing beside Max. “Could direct me to room number twelve?”
“Down that hall and it’s the first one on your left.” He pointed as you turned to leave. A hand was put on your shoulder and you swirled around to see Ray, “Please reconsider your decision, Hiiro. I liked (your first name) better, whether she was on the Bladebreakers or BBA Revolution.”
Hearing those words struck a hard cord inside of you. Something tore because of the very words he had said. You didn’t know what was about to happen, but you didn’t want to stick around for the show. You turned and sprinted down the hall and into your team’s room. Where Bryan, Spencer and Kai were sitting at a table comparing something about their beyblades. You didn’t look towards them, but simply gathered up the backpack you had brought with you that morning (as you always did when you were on the Bladebreakers – old habits die hard.), stuck your beyblade into it and head out the door, claiming, “I’ll be back in time for the next match.”
Kai gave you a strange look but shrugged off your odd behavior…obviously something had happened. He knew without a doubt that it was nothing Hiiro Takanaki couldn’t handle.
But could (Your full name)?
A/N: Okay, A) what did you think of the chapter? And B) Yes, I have decided what I’m going to do about the pairings. I’ve decided I’ll write alternate endings for both characters and then people can read which one they want to.
