He seems to remember you but you don’t seem to have any recollection of him or the people he mentions. What had happened to you when you left Hogwarts? And what do you have to do to get your shredded memories back? Reader/Remus
Karena: Hey everyone! This is another Harry Potter fic since I can’t seem to get enough of ‘em! ^__^ Please review once you’re done all right?
Tara: Oh yeah, the Chapter One doesn’t make much sense now but it will later on. Don’t worry about it.
Disclaimer for entire fic: I do not own Harry Potter, any of its characters, or you. I hope you’re all happy now. (Goes to sulk in a corner of the room)
Note: Just a little note for you right now. You have wavy medium brown hair with honey gold highlights all through out it and your hair reaches to your hips. Your eyes are a pretty shade of lavender and you look much younger than your actual age. Most people mistake you for a young seventh year. Just warning you.
“Hey.” You said, raising a hand in greeting as you ran up to Lily, her boyfriend James, and his friends: Remus, Peter, and Sirius. They all turned and said similar greetings to you but stopped when they saw you were very close to tears. “I have to say something before I go.”
“Where are you going (Name)?” Lily asked, instantly worried about you and whether you were in some sort of danger or trouble or even both. You just smiled slightly at her before taking a deep breath.
“I wanted to say goodbye.” You said and then laughed slightly when they all looked startled.
“(Name),” Remus said, taking a step forward and placing a hand on your shoulder. You would never tell him but you had had a crush on him since first year and had known about him being a werewolf since second. You smiled slightly at him in a sad way and then sighed. “Where are you going? We still have two weeks left before we all graduate.”
“My parents are yanking me out.” You told them and they all just gaped at you. “They want me to come home. I don’t know why but I feel like something’s wrong with them but there’s no way of knowing if what I suspect is true. I just wanted to tell you all that you have been the best friends that I have ever had.”
“(Name),” Lily said, taking a step forward and hugging you. “We’ll see each other again all right?”
You nodded as each of the others took a step forward and hugged you; all except Peter anyways. You shot him a questioning gaze but he just refused to meet your eyes and you sighed and gave up. Finally each of them moved away until it was only yourself and Remus standing in the deserted hallway.
“(Name).” Remus said, reaching out and holding your hand in his own. “I’m really going to miss you.”
“I’m going to miss you too Moony.” You said smiling at him with a huge grin on your face that didn’t quite reach your eyes. The Marauders had never minded much that you called them by their nicknames and had never once tried to stop you so you had kept up with it. Before you turned to go you took a deep breath and placed your lips on top of his in a chaste kiss before pulling away. “I don’t care if you’re a werewolf. I love you anyways.” And then you took off down the hallway and were out of his sight before he could even react.

“Mum,” You said to your mother as you all walked into the dark manor that was your home. You had never really felt at home in this place but you always guessed that you were just being stupid and had always shrugged it off. “Why did I have to be taken home now?”
“Because (Name), Mummy and Daddy have a very important cause for you.” Your mother said, walking forward and grabbing your hand with such a grip that you cried out in pain. She practically dragged you into a dark room and shut the door, forcing you to sit down on one of the dark velvet couches that decorated the room.
“(Name),” Your father’s voice croaked out as he walked forward and kneeled in front of you. “Your purpose in this world will soon be fulfilled. Memories that you need and memories that you don’t shall all be removed and you shall uncover new ones that you will need to survive. You are the key for the Dark Lord to return to power incase something bad every happens.”
You shrink away slightly. So you knew it now. Your parents were Death Eaters. It was the only way they would talk of bringing the Dark Lord back in case he ever fell. Your mum bended down in front of you and placed her palm over your forehead. “Don’t worry dear. Mummy loves you.” And with that your back arched with such pain that you felt a scream rip through your throat and then there was nothing but darkness.
You woke up with a start and rocketed upwards so you were sitting up in your bed and looked around. Your white shirt was plastered to your body because of the cold sweat that had enveloped it and your hair was sticking to your skin also. You quickly pushed it away and sighed. That weird dream again. You always had those sometimes but lately they had been getting worse and you had actually started to feel the emotions raging through the person in the dream and into you and feel that person’s pain. You quickly glanced at a clock to see that it was about time you got up and got ready. If you were going to get to Hogwarts on time then you had to hurry up.
You grabbed your wand and walked into your bathroom before setting your wand down on the counter top and quickly taking a hot shower. You got out and did a few spells that allowed you to easily make it look like you had been getting full nights of sleep the past few weeks and then got dressed into a pair of black flair jeans, a powder blue top that looked like a corset, and a pair of light blue boots. You brushed your wavy medium brown hair quickly until the honey gold highlights showed up without a problem and let it hang loose to your hips. Your lavender colored eyes were extra prominent because of your small silver glasses and you quickly grabbed your wand again and slipped it into your cloak before walking into your bedroom and sighing. You had all ready shrunk your trunk so you didn’t need to worry about that right now but all you had to worry about was getting to Hogwarts. You were much too lazy to actually get to King’s Cross station and you couldn’t exactly apparate to Hogwarts. Then you remembered what Dumbledore had said to you.
You quickly grabbed some floo powder before shoving your mini trunk into your pocket and getting into the flames and throwing the powder down. “Hogwarts!” You said in a clear voice before you spun off. With a dizzying feeling you clambered out of the fire place and dusted the soot off of your black cloaks. You smiled at Minerva McGonagall before she smiled back at realizing who you were.
“Miss (Last Name), it is a pleasure to see you yet again.” McGonagall said and you smiled slightly at her before nodding.
“Yes.” You said and sighed. “Do you know where I’m going to be staying or do I have to go talk to the Headmaster about that?”
“Albus would like to talk to you about that.” McGonagall said before turning back to her work and allowing you to walk out of her office and down the hall. You had walked maybe for five minutes before you turned the corner and ran into a slightly taller man.
“Ten points off of-,” The man began but then stopped. “What house are you in?”
“I’m not in a house. I work here.” You said, looking up into dark black eyes before looking him over. “Hmmm…you look really familiar. OH!” You said, clapping your hands together in excitement for being able to figure it out. “You’re Severus Snape! I was in the same year as you except I was in Gryffindor!”
“(Name) (Last Name).” Snape said, his lips curving into a nasty smile. “Never would have thought I would see you out of detention.”
“Yes well that’s what I get for hanging out with…” You began but slowly drifted off. Who was it that you hung out with? Now that you thought back on it to that dream where you had seen those boys their names were all blurred except for Peter’s name. Even the girl’s name was blurred and you felt a slight flush for not being able to remember them but you could remember Severus just fine.
“Black and Potter.” Snape said, raising an eyebrow at you when you didn’t seem to be thinking about replying to him. You smiled at him and nodded.
“Sorry. I couldn’t remember…wait, who?” You asked, clearly confused. Who were Black and Potter?
“Never mind. Where are you going?” Snape asked as you both made your way down the hallway. You and Severus had never been very close but you were on better terms than…that one boy and Snape were. (A/N: You can’t remember Sirius’ name so that’s why you said that one boy. It gets confusing sometimes.)
“The Headmaster’s office.” You replied smoothly and soon enough Snape had led you there, said the password, and then had walked off with his cloak billowing behind him. You just shook your head in exasperation. That man always did like you make a good exit. You quickly stepped on the stairs and allowed it to take you up to the Headmaster’s office door. You knocked and entered when you heard Dumbledore’s go ahead.
“Ah, Miss (Last Name), a pleasure to see you again after so many years. I’m happy to hear that you did complete your seventh year though. I had never really found out. I’m also glad that you accepted to be an assistant to the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher too.” Dumbledore said with a slight twinkle in his eyes as he smiled kindly at you.
“Yes. I was hoping that you could help me know where my room is that I shall be staying.” You said smoothly, sitting down in a chair in front of his desk. Dumbledore nodded and smiled.
“I have this all worked out. In the Great Hall you shall sit next to Remus (this name struck you as familiar) and you shall have a room next to his own.” Dumbledore said, nodding slightly. “I’m sure you’re happy to be able to see Remus again right Miss (Last Name)?”
“I’m sorry, who?” You asked blankly as you stared at the Headmaster. He looked surprised for a moment before leaning forward and looking at you with a slightly raised eyebrow.
“One of your best friends from school. Remus Lupin. Moony I believe he was called by his close friends.” Dumbledore said and looked at you surprised. “You don’t remember him?”
“No. I don’t think I do.” You told the Headmaster and he ‘hammed.
“Have you had your memories suppressed?” Dumbledore asked and you blanched. He couldn’t possibly know about those dreams where that girl who looked so much like a younger you got her memories ripped away from her…could he?
“I-I don’t know Headmaster.” You told him truthfully. He watched you with calculating eyes before smiling again.
“Well, if that’s the case then I’m sure that your memories will come back to you in time.” He said before getting up. “Would you like to accompany me down to the Great Hall? The students will be here soon but I believe that all the teachers are.”
“Of course Headmaster.” You said standing up and following him out of his office and down to the Great Hall. When you entered you noticed dully that Professor Sprout and Flitwick were still here and you smiled. But you noticed that there was a new caretaker and he had a mangy cat that kept intertwining itself between his legs. You walked up to the table and sat down where Dumbledore helped you into, noticing that a man around your own age was sitting beside you. Now that you thought about it he looked awfully familiar. You also noticed that Dumbledore was about three seats away so you didn’t have to worry about not being able to talk to anyone but you also noticed Severus was sitting on your other side. Anyways, back to the familiar man. He had dark amber colored eyes and light brown hair that was streak with some gray like he was aging slightly fast or he was under very much stress.
“(Name)?” The man asked, looking at you with wide eyes. You smiled at him and nodded.
“Remus.” Dumbledore spoke softly, smiling at him and then at Snape who had also turned to listen. “I’m afraid that you should be very careful about what you say. Miss (Last Name) had her memories forcefully removed or suppressed by someone. She shows the clear signs and I’m afraid we shall just have to wait and allow her to get her memories back soon enough on her own or you shall have to help her some.”
“Yes Headmaster.” Remus said and nodded his head politely before turning his full attention back to you. “Well, since you obviously don’t remember me, I’m Remus Lupin.”
“Oh…” You said, pursing your lips together for a second and narrowing your eyes in concentration. This caused Remus to laugh lightly at you. “What?”
“Oh, I just remembered that when we were younger every time you were trying to think really hard on something you would purse your lips and narrow your eyes. I was just remembering.” He said in a soft whisper so only you would hear. You nodded and felt a feeling tug at your heart but you just shoved it away and smiled slightly.
“I think I remember you but not by name. Only by face. You were the boy in my dream.” You told him and then flushed. “And I don’t mean to sound crazy stalkerish either.”
“Oh its quite all right.” Remus said and then suddenly the doors of the Great Hall opened and children came streaming in and began to fill up the four house tables. You smiled slightly. At least you still remembered all of the times that you came into the Great Hall every year and the tables would fill up so fast. You smiled at the thought and watched each teenager with interest before finally everyone seemed to settle down slightly. You watched as all of the new students were sorted into the houses and clapped each time one was put into Gryffindor, beaming slightly. You also clapped for the other houses but not as much as the house you had been in. After the sorting you noticed Professor McGonagall enter with two other students who promptly went to the Gryffindor table and sat down.
Dumbledore stood up and beamed around at all of the students in the Great Hall. “Welcome!” He said happily to all of the students. “Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it best to get it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast…”
Dumbledore cleared his throat before continuing. “As you will all be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently playing host to some of the Dementors of Azkaban, who are here on Ministry of Magic business. They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds and while they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks and disguises-or even Invisibility Cloaks. It is not in the nature of a Dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. I look to the prefects, and our new Head Boy and Girl, to make sure that no student runs afoul of the Dementors. On a happier note, I am please to welcome two new teachers and one new teachers assistant to our ranks this year.”
“First Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.” Here there was some scattered applause and you clapped while smiling at Lupin slightly. You glanced out of the corner of your eyes that Snape was glancing at Lupin with a look of deepest loathing and you shot him a glare that made him stop in his tracks in disguise before you turned back to Dumbledore. “As to our second new appointment, well, I am sorry to tell you that Professor Kettleburn, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining limbs. However, I am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, who has agreed to take on this teaching job in addition to his gamekeeping duties. [1] Also, the new teacher’s assistant to the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, is Gryffindor’s own past student, (Name) (Last Name) who agreed after being convinced quite thoroughly that she was the only one for this job and myself having to send her very many owls with a lot of howlers being sent back to me,” Here Dumbledore paused and everyone laughed. You flushed slightly. You hadn’t wanted to take the job but Dumbledore just wouldn’t take no. “She has joined us today after she finally sent me one nasty letter filled with a type of liquid that made my fingers swell up so bad that I had to go visit her personally and she finally relented.”
You flushed deeper when people began to clap hard for you and you had a thought that it probably had to do with that you looked quite young and probably pretty to most of them since you got the most applause from the males. “Well, I think that’s everything of importance,” Dumbledore said and you bent your head so your red hot face was hidden behind your veil of hair. “Let the feast begin!”
You filled your plate with very little food since you didn’t really feel like eating. Actually, you barely ate lately since your dreams had been getting worse and you were always thinking about them and not really about the food anymore. You saw out of the corner of your eyes that Remus had turned towards you and you turned slightly and smiled.
“You didn’t want the job?” He asked, his voice quite compared to the din in the very large hall. You smiled and shook your head slightly. “Why not?”
“I don’t really know. I just kept sending Howlers to the Headmaster but he wouldn’t take no for an answer and finally he came to see me personally. It also could have been that he couldn’t get the curse off of his fingers unless the person who put it on him released him too but I don’t really know.” You said, shrugging. “He said that I’m very good at DADA and since I was that I should come and help teach because the new teacher is very good at Defense also.”
Remus flushed slightly at the words but seemed to wave them off. “I’m glad I get to see you again.” He said and you smiled slightly at him before going back to pushing your food around on your plate and not really feeling all that hungry. You watched as all of the food turned into dessert and then after that completely disappeared. You got up, along with Remus, and the two of you made your way to where you hoped was your room.
“That’s your room.” Remus said, pointing to a door on the left of his own. “You’re right by me so if you need anything I’m only a few steps away.”
“Thank you.” You said softly before opening the door and shutting it behind you. You sighed and pulled out your shrunk trunk (A/N: Hey! That rhymes!) and unshrinking it so it was lying on your bed. You quickly unpacked everything and loaded it into your large wardrobe and hanging them up in hangers. You shut those wooden doors afterwards and shrunk your trunk again and stowed it away in a writing desk compartment that was in your room. After that you quickly dressed into a pair of silk blue pants, a short blue shirt, and brushed your hair again before slipping into bed and falling asleep.

Karena: I don’t know if this is over the character limit…I heard there was a character limit of 10,000 characters and this is…like 15,000 or a little more without spaces and about 20,000 with spaces. That’s a lot of characters.
Tara: Please review and tell Karena what you thought about this first chapter.
Karena: ^__^ I want at least two or three reviews per chapter. That’s the minimum because there is no maximum! LOL! Please review! Thanks!
[1] This speech is followed down to the last word and punctuation from PoA (Prisoner of Azkaban). I looked it up and typed it out. This fic is going to follow that book very closely with all of the scenes that it has Remus in it anyways. So, I’m just saying, this fic follows the third book very closely! ^__^
Karena: Hey everyone! This is another Harry Potter fic since I can’t seem to get enough of ‘em! ^__^ Please review once you’re done all right?
Tara: Oh yeah, the Chapter One doesn’t make much sense now but it will later on. Don’t worry about it.
