Dear Diary,
I remember when Ed and I were little, Ed’s mom use to tell use stories. She told many different stories but our favorite story was of [1] Daedalus. Daedalus was the creator of the labyrinth, but after he lost the favor of the King Minos he was locked in a tower. Daedalus constructed a way of escape, wax wings. One day he set his plan into motion with his son Icarus. He told his son to stay close to him and don’t fly to close to the sun for the sun will melt the wings. But Icarus disobeyed his father and flew closer and closer to the sun thus melting his wings; Icarus fell to his death in the clear ocean blue. We would make Trisha tell that story over and over again until we knew the whole thing by heart. Is what happened to Icarus going to happen to Ed, he’ll fly to close and fall to his death? And will I be like Daedalus who after losing his son named the waters in which he fell Icaria, then moved to Sicily and made a temple to the god Apollo, hanging up his wings as a sacrifice to the god? I won’t make fire out of clay or other inventions. Will we burn in heaven like we do down here? [2]
‘What season is it now? Ha…can’t remember the days or the seasons anymore. I’m a total wreck.’ Standing up you brush your skirt of, smoothing out the wrinkles. Walking away from the big oak tree you had been writing under you walk down the hill to a small river.
Sitting down you run your hands thru the cold, clear water. ‘I think it's going to be winter soon.’ You shiver at the memories of winter. Cold as ice flakes of condensed water floating down from a murky gray sky. Frost covering the windows of every window in town. Heaters turned up on high, and kids in winter jackets with mittens, hats, scarves, boots, the works.
~!~!~!~!~!~!~Flashback~!~!~!~!~!~!~
“WWWHHHHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!” the squeal that was heard round the world. You had just jumped into a fresh mound of snow. Upon doing so making snow fly up around you landing on ever person in a certain radius, mostly Ed.
You started making snow angels while giggling the world away. Stopping suddenly you sat up and looked around. “Ed?” looking around some more all you could find was snow, snow, snow, and more snow. Oh yeah you also found an odd pile of snow right at the base of were you jumped.
“That’s an odd snow pile. Awfully short.” All of a sudden a hand shot out of the snow pile, you screamed.
“AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT’S THE SNOW MONSTER THAT ED TOLD ME ABOUT!” you went up to the ‘snow pile’ and kicked it, still screaming.
“OW! (Y/N) WHAT WAS THAT FOR! AND WHO DID YOU SAY WAS A SUPER-ULTRA SHORT KID?!" the ‘snow pile’ yelled at you.
“IT TALKS! AND SOUNDS ODDLY…enough…like…Ed.” You said as you stopped screaming and noticed the golden eyes glaring at you through the snow.
Gulping you take a couple steps back. “N-Now Ed…I seriously did-didn’t know it was you. DON’T HURT ME!” you took off as fast as you could say ‘Zoom’ with Ed hot on your trail. You guys weren’t running very fast considering you both had on snow pants, over stuffed jackets, huge boots, and gloves, hats, and scarves.
If you were to look at this site as a passer by it would be the most hilarious thing you have ever seen. What does it look like you ask, well… two over stuffed marshmallows waddling one right after another. But in all reality this was one of the most serious chases you and Ed have ever had.
“FIRST YOU CALL ME SHORT THEN YOU HIT ME! YOU ARE SO GOING TO PAY! ONCE I FIND OUT HOW TO RUN FASTER IN THESE SNOW PANTS!” Ed screams after you.
“I’M SORRY ED! I DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS YOU! I SWEAR! BUT YOU SHOULDN’T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!” you scream back at Ed while running as fast as you can to get away from him.
Ed decides he can’t take this anymore and lunges at you, successfully pulling to the white powdery ground. Now let me set the stage again for you, one of thee ‘marshmallows’ is now sitting on top of the other one while the other marshmallow kisses the snow.
“NOW SAY IT!” Ed yelled at your fallen form.
“NUUUU!” Ed frowns.
“What?” you pull your head up.
“NO!” you yell right back at him.
“Say it and I’ll get off you.” You squirm underneath Ed’s weight.
“I refuse to say that I’m shorter then you and that you are the tallest kid I know.” Ed growls.
“SAY IT!” you squirm more.
“NO!!” you turn your body sharply to one side, making Ed tumble off you. You stand up as fast as you can and take off running or actually waddling, as Ed rolls on the snow not being able to stand up.
~!~!~!~!~!~!~End Of Flashback~!~!~!~!~!~!~
Wiping your hand off on the side of your skirt you stand back up just looking around. ‘I guess its time to go visit Trisha.’ You head back up the hill and back to your house to drop off your diary and tell your dad were your going.
“Dad!” you listen and realize your Dad is out back on your porch. Setting down your diary on your desk, you head out to the porch in search of your Dad. Walking down the stairs you can see outside the screened door, spotting your father sitting on the swinging chair you push open the door making it squeak. Letting it go it slams back to its original state and also alerts your father to your presence.
“Um…Dad I’m going to go visit Trisha now. Is that ok?” you ask timidly. He’s never said no but you still feel nervous about asking.
“Yeah sure honey… bring her some flowers and tell her I say ‘Hi’.” You nod silently, leaning down you give your father a peck on the cheek and walk back into the house.
‘I gotta’ stop and pick some flowers now too.” You thought as you walked down the dirt road to Trisha’s grave. Stopping you spot a field of wild flowers that you, Ed, Al, Winry, and Trisha use to visit all the time. ‘She’ll love those.’ You slide down the bank into the field and run over the spot were all the flowers were growing.
~!~!~!~!~!~!~Flashback~!~!~!~!~!~!~
“Come on Trisha!”
“Come on Mom!” Ed, Al, Winry, and yourself all yelled at the same time. You all turned to look at one another and started laughing.
“I’m coming, I’m coming.” You could hear Trisha laugh at you guys for being so silly.
“Look Trisha I can see the flowers from here!” You said running ahead from your friends. Doing as you did every time you guys went to visit the flower field, you slid down the bank leading to a big field.
Standing up and brushing off all the dirt that had accumulated on your yellow sundress, you turn and look up the bank. Sliding down the bank was Ed and Al; Winry had just landed right next to also brushing the dirt off her pink sundress. Looking up farther you spot Trisha walking down the slope.
Turning back around you started skipping thru the field towards the woods. Once you guys made your way thru the woods you’d find the flower field, it was a beautiful sight. You could hear the birds chirping and the sun was shining and you couldn’t wait to get to the field.
“(Y/n), darling, please wait for me before you enter the woods.” Trisha called up ahead to you. You stopped just directly in front of the woods, rocking on the heels of your feet to the toes of your feet. Winry, Ed, and Al stop behind you, waiting for Trisha to catch up.
Laughing Trisha walks up to the small pack of children “You can go ahead but stay…on…the…path…” she says slowly fading out as she sees all of you dart into the woods having a race to the field. Trisha just sighs and follows behind the band of children.
Running as fast as you can you come to a sudden halt making Winry run into you along with Ed and Al. You all fall into a big heap of children. Trisha walking down the path reaches the field and spots a big heap of laughing children, frowning she walks over and bends over.
“Now what happened?” she asks. You, being the only one that can speak at the moment, look at Trisha.
“Well I was running and they…” you motioned to the others lying around you laughing.
“…Were running behind me. I stopped and they all ran into me, and we fell.” You said taking a deep breath while standing up. Trisha just laughs at what happened and helps all of you up.
“Well let’s get to picking some flowers; I need some to brighten up the house. Now chop-chop let’s get to work.” All of you saluted and ran off into the field picking whatever colorful flower you could find.
Sometime later you come running to the entrance of the field. Spotting Trisha you run towards her, skidding to a halt. “Here you go Trisha!” you hand up your bouquet of flowers to her. Suddenly three other bouquets appear next to yours.
“Here you go Trisha!”
